Description

Sleek, simple and impressively sturdy, we've made this desk from high-quality timbers, including solid oak and pine wood. It's coated in a lacquer for extra durability and we like how the authentic parquet pattern in the wood is visible on the surface top. There's a handy drawer for storage and its rounded edges and natural finish give it a softer style. Perfect for creating a refined look in your home office. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love how this John Lewis & Partners desk combines practicality with a naturally understated look. Its parquet design adds subtle texture and warmth, making it adaptable to various interiors - from classic country-style rooms to relaxed Scandi spaces. It’s ideal for smaller workspaces or as a console table in a living area, especially when styled with minimal accessories like a sleek lamp or a few books. To enhance its natural appeal, pair it with neutral or soft-toned accessories and consider adding a statement chair in a contrasting material, such as rattan or a muted fabric, to create an inviting yet functional workspace. This piece works well in settings that favour light woods and simple, clean aesthetic, making it a versatile choice for both residential and compact home offices.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
