Description

A functional and contemporary design, our Carter desk is crafted from sturdy, durable oak veneer and fir. Its contrasting splayed legs highlight the natural grain of its wood construction against its sleek, painted surface top. Its design incorporates two convenient open shelf sections for storage, while two concealed compartments on either side ensure you can keep your laptop cables neatly organised. This desk takes a maximum load of 15kg. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this desk because of its clean, minimalist design and versatile white finish, making it a great fit for contemporary or Scandinavian-inspired interiors. Its spacious surface provides plenty of workspace, ideal for home offices or craft corners. To style it effectively, consider layering with neutral-toned accessories and adding a statement chair or colourful desk accessories for a pop of personality. It's equally suited to small spaces where a light, airy aesthetic is desired, and its simple form makes it easy to adapt with different decor styles over time. Practical styling tips include keeping clutter to a minimum and incorporating elements like a desk organiser or small plants to create a balanced, inviting workspace.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
