70 years after the launch of the first FDB furniture Hay is now taking on production of quite a few of the classic pieces. Functional and democratic design for the people was the thought behind the furniture production FDB started in the 1940's. The FDB collection from Hay consists of 5 chairs designed by Poul M. Volther, Jorgen Baekmark and Folke Paalsson as well as a table designed by Jorgen Baekmark.
I really like the J104 Chair - Wood because of its simple, timeless design and versatile aesthetic. The white finish makes it easy to pair with a variety of table styles and colour schemes, from natural wood tones to colourful or monochrome palettes. It works particularly well in Scandinavian-inspired interiors with clean lines and minimal clutter, but can also introduce a fresh, light touch into more traditional or eclectic spaces. For styling tips, consider grouping several around a rustic or modern table to create a welcoming dining area. Pair it with cushions or seat pads for added comfort and a personalised touch, especially in kitchens or casual dining rooms. Its straightforward design ensures it’s functional, adaptable, and effortlessly stylish.
