Our Stylist Says

I love the Hutch Slim Velvet Block Arm corner sofa for its sleek, contemporary silhouette and versatile slate grey hue, which works well in a variety of interiors-from modern minimal to cosy, eclectic spaces. Its slim arms and clean lines make it an ideal choice for creating a streamlined look, while the velvet upholstery adds a touch of softness and sophistication. When styling, consider pairing with textured cushions and throws to add visual interest, or keep it pared-back with monochromatic tones for a chic, understated feel. This sofa is particularly well-suited to open-plan living spaces or snug corners, where its shape can optimise seating without overwhelming the room. Practical tips include opting for low-profile tables nearby to keep the space airy and functional, and using layered lighting to highlight its plush texture and clean design.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
