Description

The Swiss design house Vitra is the only company authorised to manufacture George Nelson products for Europe: if you own a George Nelson product manufactured by Vitra, you can be sure it’s an original. George Nelson (1908 - 1986) is considered one of the founders of American modernism. He contributed to the beginning of modern design with a human dimension. Renowned for his collaborations with brands such as Vitra and Herman Miller, he has created several products that are now considered to be icons of mid-20th-century modernism. Released in 1958, the Home Desk was originally designed as a "ladies' bureau". It revisits the classic Davenport desk created in the Victorian era. The high-quality materials underline the decorative appeal of the Home Desk. With a deceptively sober look, this desk with its clean lines imposes a contemporary presence thanks to its storage compartments in flashy colours. The white high-pressure laminate top is surrounded by walnut veneer edges that prevent items from falling off. The base is in chromed steel tube. With its compact dimensions, this desk is ideal for creating a workspace in a living room, hallway or bedroom.
