I’m a fan of this walnut two-tier study desk for its slim silhouette and practical shelving - the raised top shelf neatly houses a monitor or décor, while the main surface and sliding keyboard tray keep work tools organised without taking up much floor space. Its black-iron frame and warm wood finish make it a versatile fit in minimalist, industrial or Scandi-inspired interiors, as well as compact home-office or student bedrooms.
To style it, keep clutter to a minimum: add a small potted plant or upright bookends on the top tier, use a neat cable-management box underneath, and balance the wood tones with a neutral rug and matching metal lamp. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
