Description
Beautifully crafted by De La Espada’s artisan furniture makers, this original Matthew Hilton design juxtaposes an exposed Danish Oiled walnut frame with the upholstery of the seat and backrest. Sculpted from Danish Oiled walnut, the wraparound frame of the Porto has a supportive and contemporary feel, its turned legs evoking modernist tubular steel designs.

I’m a fan of the Porto chair for its clean lines, gentle curves and sturdy walnut frame - the ocean-blue upholstery adds just the right amount of colour without overwhelming a room. It sits comfortably in schemes ranging from Scandi-minimal to mid-century modern and works well as a desk chair, dining side or a cosy reading-corner seat. For styling, try teaming it with a light oak side table and a neutral wool throw, or layer in a mustard cushion to pick out the blue tones and add a touch of warmth. The simple profile also means it slot s easily into open-plan spaces without interrupting sightlines.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
