Designed as part of a commission for the University of Paris, Jean Prouvé’s Guéridon table pointed the way for furniture of the post-war period. The mix of angular shapes, crafted hardwoods and industrial inspired fixings are true to the mid-century modernist style, creating a functional piece of furniture that suits a range of interior spaces.

I’m a fan of this Gueridon table for its clean lines and warm walnut finish - it feels equally at home in a modern flat or a Scandi-inspired kitchen. Its 105 cm diameter makes it a great choice for small dining nooks or as a breakfast table without overwhelming the space.
To style it, pair with simple, slim-framed chairs in black or pale grey to let the wood shine. Keep centrepieces minimal - a low ceramic vase with seasonal foliage or a pair of taper candles works well. If you need extra storage nearby, a slim console or floating shelf in a matching timber tone will ground the setting without cluttering.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
