Description

Boasting clean lines and a simple pedestal base the Halmstad extending dining table is a welcome addition to our ever popular Halmstad dining range. Featuring the Hamstad’s versatile urban and industrial feel this sleek and contemporary table is perfect for entertaining family and friends. Finished in a concrete effect melamine the extending table has a durable and modern appeal working perfectly with our Hix or Ericka dining chairs.

Our Stylist Says

I love this table for its contemporary, industrial look that blends practicality with style. The concrete finish offers a rugged, durable surface ideal for everyday use, making it perfect for busy family homes or modern dining spaces. Its extending feature means it can adapt easily from casual gatherings to larger dinner parties, which adds to its versatility. In terms of styling, pairing it with minimalist or Scandinavian chairs in natural materials keeps the look fresh and balanced, while adding textured textiles or colourful accessories can soften the industrial vibe. For interiors, it works well in open-plan kitchens or dining rooms that lean towards modern or urban aesthetics, but it can also serve as a statement piece amidst darker or warmer-toned surroundings. Remember to consider the weight of this table when planning your space, as concrete furniture is solid and substantial.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
