Description

Retreat to Rufus. Designed inhouse, this Habitat accent chair features a Mid-Century design and a striking shape. Its deep velvet seat makes it particularly comfortable for an occasional chair. The vent detailing on the seat back adds to its accent look. Rufus's piping shows off its curved edges. We love how the black angled legs contrast beautifully against the blue seat. Rufus is quite the sophisticated chap.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Habitat Rufus velvet chair for its sleek, modern silhouette and rich blue tone, which can add a touch of sophistication to both contemporary and eclectic interiors. It works particularly well in cosy corners, living rooms, or bedrooms where you want a statement piece that’s also practical. For styling, try pairing it with metallic accents or textured cushions to elevate its luxe velvet finish. Its compact size makes it versatile for small spaces or as an occasional seat, and layering with a colourful or patterned throw can add a personalised touch. Overall, this chair is a smart choice for adding colour and comfort without overwhelming the room.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
