Description

The Max oak bookcase with slatted drawer is a beautifully crafted design that sits on a hidden plinth, giving it a light appearance. Made from oak and oak veneer, the bookcase offers generous storage for books and treasured objects, while its compact footprint makes it ideal for smaller spaces. The bookcase has a warm, oiled finish and a push close mechanism on its drawer, which conceals everyday clutter. It is part of the extensive Max furniture range, designed in house by Matt Long, who was inspired by traditional louvred doors.

Our Stylist Says

I love this tall bookcase for its clean, natural oak veneer finish, which adds warmth and texture to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in minimalist, Scandi-inspired spaces or in more traditional settings where natural wood accents are appreciated. Its height maximises storage without taking up too much floor space, making it a versatile choice for living rooms, home offices, or bedrooms. To style it effectively, consider grouping books and decorative accessories of different heights and textures to create visual interest. Incorporating some baskets or boxes at the lower shelves can also help keep the space organised while maintaining a tidy, curated look.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
