Description

Taking its inspiration from the Far East, the Elspeth solid oak bookcase has a frame that tapers inwards, adding subtle visual interest to a room. The bookcase has a lacquered finish to protect the wood's beautiful grain and offers ample space for books and a showcase for sculptural shapes. Requires home-assembly.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the look of this ladder shelf in solid oak - it’s versatile and adds a natural warmth to many interiors. It works well in both modern and Scandi-inspired spaces, providing a subtle sculptural element that’s practical without feeling bulky. I’d suggest styling it with a mix of books, plants, and curated accessories to keep it looking inviting and personal. It’s also a good option for small spaces, as its narrow profile makes it easy to squeeze into alcoves or behind a door. For a cohesive look, keep the styling minimal and use objects with similar tones or textures to complement the oak finish.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
