The Red Afghan rugs, also known as Aqchae are made in the classic Afghan-style using two shades of red with a black or very dark blue pattern. Hand knotted from 100% wool in the northern Afghanistan town of Aqchae, this design is known as "Pheel. Paa" or Elephants Foot and is one of the most famous Afghan, traditional rug designs. In 1sqm of this rug there would be around 150000+ knots giving a mid-density pile that feels wonderful underfoot.
