Originally designed in 1955 by Alvar Aalto for the National Pensions Institute in Helsinki, the brass Floor Lamp A808 would lend a touch of contemporary style to any home. With a hand-turned shade crafted from delicate, lacquered brass strips, this sophisticated floor light would enhance any space with its warm glow. Forming concentric circles around the bulb, the globular shade is accented with a polished brass collar and an elegant black leather stand, finished by hand in Finland. Alvar Aalto was one of the founding members of Finnish manufacturer, Artek, and embraced strong individuality with focus on designing predominantly for humanity, creating functional and dynamic pieces for public and personal spaces alike.
