Bohemian and colourful, the Filo lamp is a joyful explosion of colours, materials and styles. Influenced by India, where he lived for a long time, Italian artist Andrea Anastasio has created a polymorph, original and poetic lamp. Its long cable in twisted fabric, decorated in sparkling coloured beads, resembles an Indian long necklace. A creative fusion of two worlds, criss-crossing Eastern and Western influences and combining artisan and industrial work. With Filo, Andrea Anastasio has created a fun deconstruction of the lamp archetype. It is the opposite to traditional lights that seek to hide the technical behind decorations. Here, all the parts of the lamp are bare, in a deconstruction and simplification approach. The electrical cable, the light source and decorative elements are combined in a rhythmic game where roles are exchanged. The cable becomes the main esthetic player on the lamp. Unusually long, it is wound several times around a pure metal structure. Like a bead necklace, this sparkly fabric cable is decorated with precious Murano glass and porcelain beads. These beads are entirely handcrafted in Italy. The cable finishes with an elegant conical lampshade in white porcelain, like a delicate pendant. The Filo floor lamp is available in a range of different models: each model is a different colour and shape and the beads are made from different materials. The rich pallet of colours lends the lamp many identities, from ethnic to urban….
I adore this floor lamp for its bold use of colour and playful silhouette, making it a real statement piece. It works particularly well in contemporary or eclectic interiors where it can bring a lively pop of colour and visual interest to a neutral space. When styling, consider placing it beside a simple armchair or in a corner where it can stand out without competing with other bold elements. Practical tips include pairing it with minimalist furniture to let the colours and shape shine, and using it to define cosy reading corners or add height and flair to open-plan living areas. Its height and vibrant design mean it’s not just a light source but also a sculptural accent that can transform the mood of a room.
