Layers of paint are applied, scratched back and reapplied to explore the shapes and organic patterns found by the artist on her evening walk along the salt marshes. The memories of tall grasses, bracken and birdsong from a childhood on the Irish coast leads Laura Cramer to seek out English vineyards and woodland walks from her current home in Bristol. With an aim to 'paint freely', she works in layers with a 'childlike spontaneity'.
I love this piece because it brings a gentle yet striking colour palette into a space, making it an ideal feature for both modern and more traditional interiors. It works particularly well in neutral-toned rooms where it can add a splash of colour and personality without overpowering the overall scheme. Practical styling tips include pairing it with simple framing and placing it above a sofa or sideboard for a curated look. For a more eclectic vibe, consider layering in other artworks or textured accessories that complement the pastel and earthy tones. This piece is versatile and can elevate the character of a living area, hallway, or even bedroom, adding a sophisticated touch of artistry.
