Esme Diner Ceiling Pendant, Chrome

Our Stylist Says

This chrome pendant is a sleek, contemporary choice that works especially well in modern and minimalist interiors. I love its reflective finish, which adds a touch of sophistication and helps bounce light around the space, making it feel brighter and more open. It’s ideal above dining tables or kitchen islands where a statement piece can elevate the overall look. When styling, consider pairing it with neutral colour palettes and simple furniture to let the pendant really stand out. Practical tips include ensuring the height of the pendant suits the space - typically 75-85cm above a table or work surface - and keeping the wiring discreet for a clean finish. It’s a versatile, stylish option that adds a touch of glamour without overwhelming the room.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
