Price History

Description

Design. The largest of the Romana sideboards, this stylish oak sideboard provides lots of storage space, with two separate cupboard sections and thee drawers. The front edge of the sideboard top bears the signature soft curve, and the legs have the fluid organic curves and chamfers, that characterise Romana. Fluid wave-shaped cut-out recesses provide the door and drawer handles, another design signature of the range.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Ercol Romana large oak sideboard for its timeless, minimalist design and warm natural finish, making it incredibly versatile for various interiors. It works especially well in Scandi, modern rustic, or mid-century schemes, lending a touch of understated elegance without overpowering the space. When styling, consider using its top surface for a mix of decorative items like a statement lamp, a few books, or a piece of greenery to add life. Practical tips include utilising the internal storage for tableware or textiles to keep clutter at bay, while the drawers are perfect for smaller essentials. Its clean lines make it an ideal foundation piece that can be seamlessly integrated into both living rooms and dining spaces.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
