Description

Add some snap to your wall décor with this graphic lobster print by Alice Straker. This fine art-quality print on 210gsm acid-free archival paper is framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. The acrylic glaze is light in weight and optically the same as glass. Ready to hang on your wall, it's made in the UK in an exclusive size for John Lewis & Partners. Alice Straker is a London-based artist and designer. Her paintings are thickly textured and use an uplifting colour palette which makes them sing from the walls. Alice works with a range of mediums and tools including acrylic, oils, pastels, palette knives and brushes, to create highly original paintings. Alice draws inspiration from her family's love of cooking and her twin brother is a chef. Her degree was in Art History and she has a penchant for colour theory. Our Stylist Says

I love this Lobster on Orange print for its bold colour palette and contemporary vibe. It works particularly well in modern or coastal-inspired interiors, where its vibrant orange background can add a punch of colour. Pair it with minimalist furniture and neutral tones to let the artwork stand out, or create a playful contrast with other marine-themed accessories. Practical styling tips include placing it above a console table or sideboard as a focal point, or grouping it with other coastal prints for a curated gallery wall. Its striking design makes it versatile for kitchens, living rooms, or even a bathroom, bringing a touch of fresh seaside charm indoors.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
