Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSW Plastic Side Chair in rusty orange is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base with black maple legs and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this dining chair for its bold, contemporary look. The rusty orange seat adds a warm pop of colour that works well against neutral or more minimal table settings, making it ideal for creating a focal point in modern or eclectic interiors. Its plastic shell is practical and easy to clean, perfect for busy households, while the black maple legs give it a sleek, industrial edge. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with a wooden or monochrome dining table and adding textiles like textured placemats or cushions for comfort and visual interest. This chair balances function and style, making it versatile enough to suit a variety of colour schemes and interior themes.
