Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the blue Hopsak-upholstered DAW Plastic Armchair in ice grey showcases the signature 'Eiffel' base between dark maple legs and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat comes fully upholstered in Hopsak fabric and sits on a striking base with black steel cross struts and elegant dark maple legs. Durable and robust, Hopsak is a flat-plain weave fabric crafted from polyamide, making it ideal for private as well as public settings. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its sleek combination of a dark maple frame and soft ice blue upholstery, which makes it versatile across various interior styles. It works particularly well in modern, Scandi-inspired spaces or on the more eclectic side, providing a subtle pop of colour without overwhelming the room. When styling, consider pairing it with natural wood or neutral-toned tables to highlight its clean, contemporary lines. For spaces that need a little extra personality, layer with textured textiles or patterned cushions to add depth. Practical tip: the sturdy wooden legs and padded seat make it suitable for both dining and occasional use, making it a functional yet stylish addition to any dining area.
