Description

Originally designed in 1959 by Gio Ponti, the D.859.1. A Dining Table in a black-stained ash finish is expertly crafted by Molteni & C.Initially created for the auditorium that adjoins the Time & Life Building in New York, this scaled-down version of the original design is expertly crafted from solid ash in a stained black finish. Showcasing a trapezoidal base crafted from the same material, the table is accented with satin brass feet for a luxurious finish. A refined addition to any space, this design classic would enhance any home with its clean lines, contemporary silhouette and expert craftsmanship. Renowned across the globe for his extensive contribution to design, master in Italian architecture Gio Ponti helped to create the prestigious Compasso d'Oro design award. Collaborating with esteemed manufacturers such as Gubi, Cassina and Molteni & C, Ponti's contemporary designs incorporate minimalist, functional design with expert craftsmanship.

Our Stylist Says

The black ash dining table is a versatile statement piece that effortlessly blends modern sophistication with practical design. I love it for its sleek, contemporary look that pairs well with both minimalist and eclectic interiors. It works beautifully in neutral schemes, adding a touch of drama while still feeling approachable. Practical styling tips include keeping the surrounding décor simple to highlight the table’s striking black finish, or adding colour accents such as bold tableware or vibrant chairs for a more lively vibe. Its sturdy structure and sophisticated finish make it a great choice for everyday dining as well as special occasions.
