Our Stylist Says

I really like the Christmas Herringbone Stripe Throw for its classic design and festive colour palette, making it an easy way to add seasonal charm without overwhelming a space. Its red and white stripes work particularly well in traditional and scandinavian-inspired interiors, adding warmth and a touch of seasonal cheer. Practical styling tips include draping it over a sofa or armchair for cosy, inviting vignettes, or folding it neatly at the foot of the bed for extra texture and colour during the winter months. Its bold pattern and colours also lend themselves to layering with other textiles, creating a layered, warm look perfect for the festive season.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
