Our Stylist Says

I love this cushion for its versatile and understated elegance. The charcoal hue makes it a great backdrop for both neutral and colourful interiors, adding a cosy yet sophisticated touch. Its chenille fabric offers a plush feel, making it perfect for creating a welcoming lounge or layered bed styling. I recommend pairing it with other textured textiles, such as soft throws or velvet cushions, to add depth. It works well in contemporary, minimalist, or even rustic schemes, providing a chic accent without overpowering the space. For practical styling, position it on a textured pouffe or as an anchor on a larger sofa, and consider mixing it with patterned or contrasting cushions for a curated, lived-in look.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
