The great black windmill stands alone, quietly hidden away from the claws of demolishers and developers of London. Sadly, the last survivor of it's kind in the city. This hidden gem is literally down the road from where I live, and I had to make this illustration! In 2016, this grand old Brixton Windmill celebrated it's 200th birthday, and is still going strong. The stone ground wholemeal flour, made from local organically sourced wheat, can be bought in various local shops in Brixton. -Sold unframed-
I really like this Brixton Windmill print because it offers a vibrant and modern take on a classic London motif. It works well in contemporary or eclectic interiors, especially when paired with simple furnishings to let the artwork stand out. Its bold colours and graphic style make it perfect for a feature wall in a living room, home office, or even a hallway to add a pop of colour and character. Practical styling tips include framing it with a slim, neutral frame to keep the focus on the print or creating a gallery wall with other London-inspired pieces. Keep the surrounding decor minimal to let the graphic elements and colours really shine.
