The iconic wall lamp Bestlite BL10 from Gubi was designed by Robert Dudley Best as early as the 1930s. Best, as inheritor of one of the world’s biggest lamp factories, found the lamps at the time to be rather old-fashioned and decided to design a lamp range of his own. He was inspired by the modern Bauhaus-style – a style that would become one of the most influential in close to all spheres of the design world. The Bestlite range has been in continuous production since its launch and has become a design icon in its own right, with Winston Churchill amongst its many enthusiasts. The Bestlite BL10 is available in a number of variants. The shade can be rotated 360 degrees, making it the perfect reading lamp.
I love the sleek, functional design of the bestlite wall lamp, especially with its matt white and chrome finish. It offers a timeless, versatile look that works well across a variety of interiors, from minimalist modern spaces to more industrial or vintage-inspired schemes. This wall light is perfect as a task light above a desk or reading nook, but it also adds a stylish, sculptural element to a bedroom or hallway. When styling, consider pairing it with other chrome accents or neutral tones to keep the aesthetic clean and cohesive. Practical tips include using it to highlight artwork or architectural features, as its adjustable arm ensures focused, directed light where needed.
