Description
New for 2017, this upholstered seat edition of the Beetle Dining chair by young design duo Enrico Fratesi and Stine Gam is an update of the contemporary icon. The characterising feature of this exclusive edition is the cushioned seat section, upholstered in Danish textile specialist Kvadrat's premium Messenger fabric, in an assortment of colourways. The back and seat base of the Beetle chair is created using one piece of colour-matched curved plastic in an ergonomic shape ensuring comfort when sitting, while the sleek legs that make up the base are crafted from polished brass. Gam Fratesi found the anatomy of the beetle very interesting; the structure is made up of different plates separated by thin sutures, and it is this external shell that supports and protects the animal's body. Inspired by the shape, shell and structure of the eponymous insect, the design of the chair reinterprets these characteristics of the beetles' body: rigid on the outside with smooth curves, while maintaining comfort and functionality. This new upholstered seat edition of Gam. Fratesi's Beetle dining chair with polished brass legs offers Scandinavian simplicity and comfort in a subtle, clean-lined form. Also available with black chrome legs, and in upholstered and un-upholstered editions, with either black powder-coated steel or polished brass legs.
