Originally designed in 1950 to suit the compact post-war French home, the B-Table by Marcel Gascoin for GUBI provides a clean-lined surface with flexible functionality, deftly transforming to accommodate the needs of a modern home. Comprising two different dining options in one simple form, the B-Table is reimagined by GUBI featuring a sturdy wood frame atop four elegant tapered legs. The square tabletop is fitted with an additional curved section on each of its four sides, easily lifting and secured by magnetic locks to create a larger circular surface. One of the post-war era’s leading designers, Marcel Gascoin’s designs became a staple in French homes during the 1950s. His fascination with utilitarian characteristics and flexible functionality began in childhood, where he grew up around boats, admiring their efficient use of space. Incredibly forward-thinking and passionate about accessible design and exploring new means of production, today Gascoin’s furniture is praised for its simple lines and minimalist aesthetic.
