Description
The Aviator Tomcat takes its cue from military aviation history, inspired by the twin-cockpit seats of the F-14 Tomcat which was deployed by the U.S. Navy for some of its most prolific missions in the 1970s. The chairs aerodynamic curves are hugged in riveted aluminum, inspired by the World War II British Supermarine Spitfire, put through a five-stage process to distress the metal and create the unique Spitfire finish. The Aviator Tomcat was the winner of the Luxuria award for Most Innovative Product Design in 2010.

I’m a fan of the Tomcat chair for its blend of rich leather and riveted aluminium - it makes a strong focal point without feeling over-done. The low, wide profile is supremely comfortable and the aged patina on the metal adds real character.
It sits equally well in an industrial loft or a contemporary living room, especially when paired with warm wood tones and natural textiles to soften the metallic edge. For a balanced look, try a chunky wool rug beneath and a slim side table in a complementary finish; a muted cushion or throw will also help tie it into a cosy reading corner.
