Getting a sofa into your home can sometimes be a bit of a squeeze, so remember to measure your space in advance, including door frames and tight bends. Our Askem sofas come packaged in plastic and cardboard to keep them protected during delivery, so remember to note down the ‘packaged dimensions’ when measuring your space. The Italian-made sofa is exclusive to Habitat and a compact Askem sofa is also available.
Our Stylist Says
The Askem Ink Blue 2 Seater is a versatile piece that lends itself well to both contemporary and classic interiors. Its rich blue hue offers a sophisticated pop of colour that can anchor neutral palettes or complement other bold tones. I love pairing it with light, airy textiles and metallic accents for a modern look, or layering with textured cushions and throws for a cosy, inviting feel. Practical styling tips include keeping the surrounding decor minimal to let the sofa stand out, and using complementary colours like warm greys or soft pinks to create a well-balanced aesthetic. Its size makes it perfect for smaller living rooms or versatile seating arrangements in larger spaces.

The Birth of Habitat
In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.
The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.
Rapid Expansion & Legacy
Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.
The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.
Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.
Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
Innovation & Collaboration
Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.
Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
