An iconic design conceptualised in 1948 by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell, the brass A1965 Pendant Light is expertly crafted by Gubi. Originally designed for New York's Finland House to showcase Finnish design, the statement pendant lampshade is characterised by its perforated triangular pattern that helps to cast a soft, diffused glow across the room. Boasting elegant brass accents, the A1965 Pendant Light features a brass counterweight to adjust the height of the light to suit any space and a matte glass diffuser to gently illuminate without glare. Renowned for his influence on modern lighting design, Paavo Tynell originally trained as a blacksmith before founding his own metalwork and lighting studio in 1918. With a simplified aesthetic, his pieces echo influences from mid-century modernism, showcasing counterweighted suspension mechanisms and beautiful complementary materials in appealing forms.
