Finn Juhl, the master of Danish Modern, originally designed the iconic 109 Chair in oak and Sorensen Prestige leather in 1946.Far from your average dining chair, the 109 Chair features exceptional details such as the uniquely detailed armrests. Perfectly shaped to fit a hand, the armrest's curves and angles are completed with a hollowing at the tip, for a tactile element. Available upholstered in cognac, tan or black Sorensen Prestige European leather, the seat and back rest on an expertly crafted walnut frame. Perfect for home life, the chair's leather is strong, soft-pigmented, has a natural grain and has been given a strong surface treatment to ensure it is practical and smudge proof. The first Danish furniture designer to achieve international recognition, Finn Juhl is seen by many as the master of Danish Modern. A self-taught designer, he originally studied to become an architect but worked with the mindset of a sculptor when creating his designs. Rather than thinking in terms of practicality, Finn Juhl broke free from the constraints of conventional working methods to create truly innovative designs.
