Black sideboards on Flitch

You’ll find the widest choice at The Range, Dunelm and Olivia's. Retailers have added 15 new black sideboards to Flitch in the last 30 days. Most black sideboards are wooden. Beyond modern and contemporary designs, the most common style is industrial. There are also 93 with open shelves and 14 with a distressed finish. Black can make the lighter colours around it stand out, though it may show dust and pet hair more than you'd expect. It’s a good idea to measure your space before you choose: of the black sideboards with measurements listed, most are between 120 and 180cm wide.

How much do black sideboards cost?

Half of all black sideboards on Flitch cost less than £350. That’s about 30% less than sideboards in general, which usually cost around £490. The biggest difference in price comes down to material: metal ones typically cost £1,000, about twice the price of wooden ones at £420. Style matters too, with contemporary designs at around £370 against £200 for industrial designs. It also pays to shop around: of the retailers with plenty to choose from, The Range is usually the cheapest, at around £200, and Quatropi the most expensive, at around £1,000.

What other shoppers are choosing

Brown and grey sideboards are also popular with shoppers, if you’re not set on black. Wide sideboards are catching on: they get more of shoppers’ attention than they did last year. Retailers have also been stocking more Scandinavian sideboards this year, so there’s a wider choice available.

Is now a good time to buy black sideboards?

Right now 57 black sideboards are reduced, typically by 14% – and some by up to 41%. About a quarter of the black sideboards are cheaper than they’ve usually been over the last three months, so it’s a good moment to compare. Discounts come round often, too: about a third have dropped in price at some point in that time. If you can wait a couple of months, January is usually the best time to buy sideboards: in each of the last two Januarys, noticeably more were below their usual price than in a typical month. Either way, set a price alert on the one you want and we’ll tell you when it drops.
