Description

From a hand-drawn design by Zoffany collaborator Sam Wilde, "Eastern Palace" elegantly represents the Japanese concept of "fuubutsushi", a word unique to the Japanese language that means, "the things, feelings, scents and images that evoke memories or anticipation for a particular season". Snaking its way through the design, a mysterious river unites Japan's four main islands, taking in palaces, temples and giant "kamis" or spirits. It's made from soft and luxurious, 320 thread count Egyptian cotton sateen for a cool and comfortable night's sleep. Please note: duvet covers and pillowcases are available to buy separately, and not in sets. Bedding sizes To fit duvet/pillow size (cm) Oxford pillowcase, L75 x W50cm (excluding trim) Double duvet cover, L200 x W200cm King duvet cover, L220 x W225cm Super king duvet cover, L220 x W260cm

Our Stylist Says

I love the Zoffany Eastern Palace bedding for its elegant, intricate print that adds a touch of sophistication to any bedroom. It works particularly well in classic or heritage-inspired interiors, where detailed textiles can complement ornate furniture or moulded ceiling details. For styling, I recommend pairing it with neutral or soft-toned bed linens to let the pattern stand out, and adding some textured cushions or throws for depth. It's also versatile enough to work in contemporary settings if matched with sleek, minimal accessories, making it a standout choice for those looking to bring a refined yet timeless aesthetic to their space.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
