I love how this tall cabinet’s graphic front and mixed-finish frame give a modern twist without feeling cold. The crisp white and black panels pop against the warm dark-wood sides, so it slots straight into contemporary, Scandi or mid-century schemes. For styling, arrange items in odd-number groups - a small trio of ceramics on one shelf, a stack of design books on another and a single sculptural vase below - then fit a slim LED strip at the back to highlight your pieces. Anchor it to the wall for safety and balance its sharp lines with a soft rug or boucle armchair nearby.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
