With its Zagazig coffee tables, Driade Lab offers a fresh look at contemporary decorative arts ...Graphic and contemporary, these coffee tables feature angular, asymmetrical geometric lines. Straddling the border between art and design, they are covered with incredible colourful decorations. Made in Italy, their high-end laminate tops are digitally printed. The very high definition printing gives an illusion of breathtaking depth. These furniture items are true paintings on which the Driade Lab designers give free rein to their creativity. As part of the optical art movement, this extraordinarily playful geometric design gives the impression of movement and vibration. It has an asymmetrical collage of broad black stripes. The repetitive, dynamic pattern includes random intermissions. It plays with the use of breaks, offsets and continuity. The sideboard thus becomes a rhythmic surface of events, movement and depth. This precision and rigour in the lines evokes the work of artist Daniel Buren with his "striped interventions", very popular in the 70s. Chic and ethereal, the wired base is made of golden steel.
The Zagazig coffee table is a versatile piece that works well in both modern and contemporary interiors. I love its sleek black finish paired with the minimalist gold legs, which add a touch of sophistication without overwhelming the space. It's perfect for creating a chic centrepiece in a living room, especially when styled with a mix of books, candles, or small decorative accessories. For practical styling, consider layering different textures on top-perhaps a tray or a small plant-to add visual interest. Its size makes it suitable for compact living areas, and it can also serve as a statement piece in larger open-plan spaces. Overall, it’s a stylish and functional addition that balances aesthetics with everyday practicality.
