New Antic: the Italian designer, Uto Balmoral, is giving a new lease of life to antiquity with this pop and completely quirky reinterpretation of an antique bust. Far from the seriousness of classical statues, this young ephebe seems to be surprised by the bubble of pink chewing gum that is coming out of their mouth! The Uto Balmoral troublemaker appropriates pieces of classical antiquity and makes them communicate in a fun and surrealist way with the present. He provocatively and cheekily hijacks the cultural heritage of antiquity. The resin perfectly imitates white marble. The glass bubble of pink chewing gum serves as a diffuser: the LED bulb inside gives off a warm light. This sculptural object, at the boundary between art and design, creates a dreamlike and extravagant world, at once provocative, funny and absurd. You’ll recognise the dark humour of Uto Balmoral for whom objects must have character and provoke astonishment even if it means disturbing people. The Wonder lamp adds an uninhibited, eccentric, arty touch to your décor. This sculptural piece stands out in our interiors to decorate as much as to brighten.
