German designer Sebastian Herkner pays tribute to the art of Japanese ceramics. Named after the traditional Japanese pottery technique, the Raku cordless lamp is compact yet makes a big statement. The hand-sculpted ceramic base is made with a glaze that creates a crackled pattern which varies slightly from piece to piece. Raku celebrates the art of imperfection. From these unique pieces emerges a poetry of material, a mix of strength and softness. The industrial and raw style of the metal lampshade counters the elegant and delicate look of the ceramic base. This cordless lamp can be taken really easily into any room in the house: placed on the table during a meal or aperitif, in a living room or on the terrace (in dry weather only). You can adjust the light intensity according to the ambiance you want to create (3-position dimmer).
I love this lamp’s playful yet sculptural form, which combines the warm tones of ceramic and metal for a contemporary touch. Its compact size makes it versatile, perfect for placing on bedside tables, shelves, or small sideboards. The wireless rechargeable feature adds to its practicality, allowing for flexible placement without worrying about cords. It works well in modern, Scandinavian, or industrial interiors, especially when paired with other textured or neutral pieces to let its distinctive shape stand out. For styling tips, consider using it as a bedside reading lamp or in a cosy nook-its soft, diffused light creates inviting atmospheres. Keep the ceramic base and metal shade clean and minimal to highlight its design without visual clutter.
