Description
Wire VP16 High Stool by &tradition: Verner Panton Takes It to New HeightsWith the Wire VP16 high stool, &tradition is reissuing a 1981 design by Verner Panton in a 75-cm-tall version. Entirely crafted from polished stainless steel wire, Wire combines visual lightness with stability. Its network of metallic lines creates a graphic, almost transparent seat that looks particularly striking around a kitchen island or counter. A thoughtfully positioned footrest complements the structure, enhancing comfort during extended periods of sitting. Steel wire According to Verner PantonVerner Panton designed the Wire stool in 1981. Here, the Danish designer uses stainless steel wire to construct the form from a simple, repetitive geometric pattern. Vertical lines rise from the circular base to the seat, creating a structure whose appearance changes depending on the viewing angle. In this tall version, the design takes on a sleeker profile. The polished stainless steel reflects the surrounding light, while the spaces left between the wires maintain a sense of visual lightness. This design is particularly well-suited when you want to arrange multiple seats around a Counter without making the space feel cluttered. An optional cushion for added comfortThe Wire VP16’s structure is designed to provide support and stability. Its footrest allows you to rest your legs naturally and enhances comfort during extended use. For a softer seat, you can add a cushion specially designed for Wire. It attaches directly to the seat with magnets and also adds a pop of color that contrasts with the polished steel. PLEASE NOTE:The magnetic seat cushion is sold separately. What counter height is suitable for a 75-cm stool? With a seat height of 75 cm, the Wire VP16 is a high stool designed to be paired with a Counter or a sufficiently high table. Before purchasing, it’s important to check the available clearance under the Tray to ensure comfortable legroom. Its dimensions—44 cm in diameter and 75 cm tall—also help you plan for the necessary floor space, especially when multiple stools are placed side by side. Is the Wire high stool comfortable for sitting for long periods?Yes, it’s designed to provide support and stability, with a footrest positioned to enhance comfort during extended sitting. For added cushioning—especially during meals—the magnetic cushion (sold separately) complements the metal seat. Where should the Wire VP16 high stool be placed? The Wire VP16 naturally fits in front of a counter or island that’s tall enough. Its openwork structure is particularly striking in open-concept kitchens and contemporary spaces, where it allows the eye to wander rather than creating a visual bulk. Its polished steel also allows you to play with contrasts. It can complement a stone, wood, or metal countertop and add a graphic touch to a minimalist decor. With the Wire VP16, just a few lines of steel are enough to create an instantly recognizable seat. Both functional and radically graphic, this high stool brings Verner Panton’s design language into the most everyday moments—whether enjoying a glass of wine, a meal, or a conversation. Its silver metal frame and open structure make it versatile, seamlessly fitting into modern, contemporary, or even eclectic interiors. I love how it offers an understated yet sculptural element, perfect for kitchens or bar areas where space is at a premium. For styling, consider pairing it with other metallic or glass accents to emphasise its transparency, or use it as a functional statement piece around a breakfast bar or drinks area.
