Description

Design. For a touch of refined sophistication in your home, the Windermere Footstool is a wonderful option that allows for plenty of personalisation with its wide range of foot and fabric colour option. The curved elegant surface is elevated by carved wooden legs which nods to traditional design, creating a timeless look that will work well in a modern or traditional setting. A fibre filled interior is a well thought out design option which provides a supremely comfortable place to rest your feet. This piece will also look fantastic placed in the middle of your living room for a statement center piece.

Our Stylist Says

I love this footstool because of its versatile design and neutral tone, making it a great addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors. It works well in living rooms as an extra seat or for resting your feet, but it also makes a stylish place to display a tray of books or decorative accessories. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with a contrasting rug or layered cushions on a nearby sofa for added texture. Its timber legs add a touch of classic charm, so it’ll sit nicely in spaces that lean toward rustic, vintage, or even minimalist aesthetics if kept understated. It’s practical yet considered, adding comfort and character without overpowering other design elements.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
