Description
A seascape beneath cloudy skies by photographer William Vanscoy, mounted with a contemporary metallic-effect frame, ready to hang on your wall. Made in the UK, a liquid resin gel is applied by hand to the glass complementing key aspects of the print. The resin is clear and mixed with chrome glitter to add that extra sparkle. The full effect of this hand finish is best seen in situ where the light reflects from the picture adding a subtle 3D effect to the image. In an attempt to capture the transitory beauty of life and nature, William Vanscoy's work merges the traditional and digital photographic landscape. His goal is to create a serene self-expressive image that reflects the wonder and peace found in his experiences in life. He believes it's not what's seen but what's expressed that makes photographic art. William's photographs are made using digital capture and extensive digital post-production, sometimes combining multiple photographs to create one realistic image. He was born in San Mateo California (1946) and attended and graduated from the Brooks Institute School of Photography (1976-1979), with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He worked as a professional commercial product photographer in Los Angeles (1979-2004) and has displayed and promoted fine art images since 1996. After changing to large-format view cameras, he embraced manmade and natural landscape, attempting to emulate artists like Ansel Adams and Edward Weston. While working in Los Angeles as a commercial photographer, Vanscoy stayed connected to his own fine art, taking time to photograph in the American Southwest and Europe.
