Description

Perhaps William Morris’s most recognisable design, Strawberry Thief was inspired by the thrushes that crept under Morris’s strawberry nets in his garden at Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire. The original pattern took several days to print using hand-carved woodblocks to build up the different colours, and ‘Strawberry Thief’ was consequently one of Morris’s firm’s most expensive cottons. Whilst waiting to see the first piece printed, Morris endured sleepless nights in his lodgings at Merton Abbey. Designed in 1883, Strawberry Thief remains one of William Morris’s most popular and iconic designs. Pairing iconic William Morris patterns with excellent British manufacturing, our Made to Order service brings you a selection of beautiful William Morris At Home designs, with exclusive colourways to Dunelm, allowing you to create a uniquely individual look in your home. Available in both a plain and piped design, this cushion cover can be paired with our matching Made to Measure Curtains or Roman Blinds to give your home, office or commercial space a beautifully co-ordinated finish. Our Stylist Says

I love how the William Morris Strawberry Thief cushion adds a touch of vintage charm and richness to a variety of interiors. Its deep burgundy background makes it versatile for both classic and eclectic spaces, working particularly well in rooms with muted or earthy tones. For styling, I’d suggest pairing it with textured fabrics like chenille or velvet, and layering with other patterned cushions for a more relaxed, artisanal feel. It’s a great accent piece for sofas, armchairs, or even a bed, bringing a hint of historic botanical design into contemporary settings.
