Marigold was designed by William Morris and registered as a wallpaper in 1875. The pattern incorporates larger marigold flowers amongst sprays of willow like leaves, against a backdrop of smaller foliage and flowers. Coloured in a deep, olive-green palette and printed onto a linen-look cotton base, this timeless cushion has a coordinating plain dyed cotton velvet reverse in a soft sage colour.
I love this cushion for its rich, botanical detailing and versatile olive tone, which adds a touch of warmth to both traditional and contemporary interiors. It works particularly well in homes with heritage or vintage furniture, especially if paired with natural fibres and muted colour palettes. For practical styling, try layering it with neutral or patterned throws on a sofa or armchair, or use it to introduce a subtle pop of colour in a neutral setting. The classic William Morris design also offers longevity, making it a timeless addition that can be easily integrated into various schemes for a sophisticated yet relaxed look.
