I’m a fan of the Whittle table in smoked oak for its clean-lined profile and subtle grain, which makes it a versatile base whether you’re working with Scandi minimalism, contemporary country or an urban loft setup. Its generous rectangular top easily accommodates six chairs without crowding the room, and the slim legs keep sight-lines open.
To style, position a low runner or a couple of ceramic vases down the centre rather than one large piece, then mix chair styles - perhaps woven seats with upholstered backs - to add texture. Finish with a pendant light hung centrally about 70 cm above the tabletop for balanced illumination.
