French designer Gilles Derain (1944 – 2019) was the co-founder and artistic director of Lumen Center. His works, which have now become classics, reach record prices at auctions. Created in 1984, Torchére is certainly one of the favourite wall lights of interior designers. A specialist in the history of decorative arts, Gilles Derain revisits the charm of old wall lights in a contemporary way. The Torchére wall lamp stands out with its large dimensions, clean lines and convex angle. It diffuses very suggestive indirect, diffuse lighting. This wall light has a cable with mains power plug. Dimmer on cable. This light is part of the LC collection by Lumen Center: reissues of iconic lamps from the 1920s to the 1980s, created by famous personalities of international design. Lumen Center: Made in Italy excellence... Quality of materials, attention to detail and craftsmanship are the hallmarks of the company's know-how. In the wake of a long tradition of craftsmanship, LUMEN CENTER continues to experiment with new solutions and cutting-edge technologies, bringing creations to life. The quintessence of design marries admirably with perfect functionality.
I love this wall light for its sleek, minimalist design and versatility. Its slim, elongated form works well in modern and contemporary interiors, adding a touch of elegance without overwhelming space. It's ideal for creating ambient or accent lighting in living rooms, hallways, or bedrooms, especially when paired with other understated fixtures. For styling, consider placing it alongside textured wall panels or in pairs to frame a statement piece. It’s also worth experimenting with positioning to highlight architectural details or artwork, making this piece as functional as it is stylish.
