Description

A faithful re-edition of the much-loved 1950s collector's piece from designer George Nelson, this Sunburst wall clock from Vitra features a trusty quartz clock movement for precision timekeeping. As with all of the eminent Nelson's designs, the structural, sun-inspired form and diverse use of materials embody the joie de vivre of his mid-century heyday while remaining relevant and influential today. George Nelson's architecture, product design, exhibition design and publishing work have made him one of the all-time greats in terms of American designers. Responsible for such iconic designs as the Coconut chair, Sling sofa and Marshmallow sofa, among many others, his influential works spanned several decades and are still coveted today.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wall clock because of its striking sunburst design, which instantly adds visual interest to a space. It works particularly well in mid-century inspired interiors or modern eclectic rooms where statement pieces are welcome. When styling with this clock, consider pairing it with minimal accessories in complementary brass or black finishes to keep the look cohesive. For practical tips, hang it at eye level in open-plan living areas or kitchens to serve as both a functional piece and a decorative focal point. Its size and bold design make it versatile enough to suit both contemporary interiors and retro-inspired schemes.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
