The Fiberglass Chairs were launched on the market in 1950, introducing a new furniture typology that has since become widespread: the multifunctional chair whose shell can be combined with a variety of bases to serve different purposes. In response to the enormous popularity of the chair, the choice of bases and colours was subsequently expanded. Over the course of the following decade, the Fiberglass Chairs became one of the best known furniture designs of the twentieth century.

I always recommend the navy-blue Eames DSW for its clean lines and durable shell - it works brilliantly in Scandi-inspired dining spaces or as a smart home-office chair against a pale wood desk. The black maple legs and glides protect wooden floors, while the deep hue adds a subtle contrast without overpowering a neutral palette.
For styling, team it with a slimline runner or sisal rug to define the area, and tuck in a simple linen cushion in a complementary tone for extra comfort. It also looks great mixed with other mid-century silhouettes or metal-frame pieces if you’re after a more eclectic look.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
