Epitomising the playful, functionality of mid-century American design, the DSW Chair by Charles and Ray Eames feels as fresh today as when it was first introduced over 60 years ago. A wonderfully crafted, and fully licensed edition by Vitra, this reproduction adheres strictly to the Eames original design, the only change being the replacement of fibreglass shell for a more environmentally friendly, not to mention hard-wearing, polypropylene seat.

I often choose the pale-rose Eames DSW for its pared-back silhouette and soft, warm colour - it slots seamlessly into Scandi, minimalist or contemporary schemes without stealing the show. The golden-maple legs bring a natural note that pairs particularly well with light oak tables or pale stone surfaces.
For styling, use it around a simple wooden dining table or as a desk chair in a home office; add a textured cushion or a neutral linen throw to soften the shell and introduce a bit of layering. If you’re using more than one, try an odd number to keep the layout dynamic, and finish with a potted plant or two nearby to echo the chair’s wood tones.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
