A wavy shape that evokes the fluttering wings of a butterfly, this graceful stool is designed in Japan by Sori Yanagi. Inspired by the ground-breaking forms of Charles & Ray Eames bent plywood furniture, the Butterfly incorporates eastern shapes to create a soothing and comfortable design.

I’m a big fan of the butterfly stool’s clean lines and warm maple veneer - it slots effortlessly into Scandi-inspired living rooms, minimalist studies or as an unexpected accent in a more eclectic scheme. Its sculptural form works both as a low occasional seat and a compact side table: try placing it beside a sofa with a small ceramic vase and a couple of art books, or use it as a bedside perch in a spare-room setup. Because it’s so slim, it’s ideal for tight corners and hallways, and you can soften its profile by topping it with a textured cushion or lightweight throw when it’s not in use.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
