Description

Made in the UK A sprung, supportive and durable foundation for your mattress, the Premier shallow divan base from Vispring is made from high-quality FSC-certified materials. Handmade in the UK and traditionally glued and screwed, the upholstered base features a hand-nested pocket spring system that’s encased with temperature-regulating, natural fillings. This shallow base sits on sturdy wooden legs. Pocket springs and natural fillings Insulating wool and breathable cotton ensure good ventilation, while the pocket springs are produced in an edge-to-edge format that maintains the structure of the base and helps to keep your body weight evenly distributed. FSC-Certified Made from slow-grown Scandinavian softwood and hardwood, all timber used in this base has accreditation from the Forest Stewardship Council. The production process is monitored and all materials used can be traced to ensure responsible manufacturing. Our Stylist Says

I really like the Vispring Premier Shallow Divan, as it offers a clean, modern silhouette that works well in a variety of interiors, from contemporary to more classic settings. Its FSC-certified spruce construction ensures an eco-friendly choice, which is appealing when styling spaces with sustainability in mind. For practical styling, I often suggest pairing it with a plush, tailored bedspread or layering with textured throws to soften its minimalist look. The shallow profile makes it ideal for rooms where ceiling height or visual lightness is a consideration, and it’s versatile enough to be dressed up with decorative cushions or kept sleek for a clutter-free aesthetic. Because it's in the divan category, it lends itself well to personalised storage solutions underneath, making it both stylish and functional.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
